World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade item track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive depending on the upgrader you choose and what type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the variety of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at a lower level. Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell gear, players can compare the levels of the item. It's a measure of the damage and quality. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the item level.

On PC, you are able to check the level of the item using ALT, or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering over an item upgrading using the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories on how the calculation of the item's level is carried out. One theory suggests that the level of an item is calculated using formulas that determine how valuable an item's stats really are. It takes into consideration that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is usually close to the actual Blizzard item level.

However, this is not the only factor that affects an item's ilvl, as the level of the region the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modification which are then enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item upgrade. For instance, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.

Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can do things like give the item extra damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the item.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window, pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can choose to upgrade an item with a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are determined by the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it is a unique item upgrader mod or a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Similar to base equipment, it would have to be done per item upgrade, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't display all possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items, the properties that are created by loot and the strength of these properties. It does not, however directly impact damage or the ability to Upgrade items [bridgehome.Cn]. It gives players the possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves and is thus more beneficial in early game runs as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with a default Luck value of 40. These items can then be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck, or to increase the existing Luck of an item, up to 140.

Furthermore there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items are available in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to boost their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.

The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items, so enchantment glint and other effects could be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
