The best way to improve your gear in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This lets you improve it without having to depend on costly trades or drops. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items.
Upgrading equipment grants an increase to the item's base stats. This bonus scales depending on the rarity and quality of the upgrade component.
Components
Upgrade components are the parts that improve your armor and weapons more effective. They can be found by destroying enemies, purchasing them from karma vendors or finding them in items-spheres. You can also get them from equipment that contains the components or through high-end salvage kits like Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Contrary to other products upgrades aren't destroyed when removed from an item.
Upgrade components are typically used to upgrade an item, however, they can also be used for other reasons. They can be used to increase the quality of an upgradeable item or they can be used to boost the experience gained by upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can be forged for extra bonuses. For instance, a specially designed glyph will increase the chance of upgrading its target, and the boost upgrade can increase the attack or defense quality of a weapon or armor.
Selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will allow you to bind it to an item. This will show the list of upgrade components that the item can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench when selecting an upgrade template. In either scenario, an item will be upgraded when enough upgrade components have been gathered.
Each component has its own experience multiplier. This determines the amount of experience an item will gain when upgraded using that component. Organic components, for instance have a higher multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is therefore best to upgrade with organic components until you have reached the experience multiplier of the next level of the equipment or weapon, and then move to mechanical upgrades.
In addition to the multiplier of experience Each item also comes with a maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of upgradeable items is determined by their upgradeable rank, and the kind of upgrade they are able to receive. For example, the highest possible weapon upgrade is a weapon of tier 10. However, the most common upgrade for weapons is a tier 6 weapon and a tier 5 armor upgrade.
Sets
A set is a collection of items which share bonuses. Each item can be upgraded at the minimum once. The upgrade increases the guaranteed bonuses. When you first upgrade an item, its initial stat will be +1. On subsequent upgrades, the primary stats will be boosted even further (for instance +1 for 12+/13+/14+) and each time an item is upgraded, one of its additional stats is increased randomly.
Upgrades can also increase the base damage of a weapon. This could be crucial for certain types of weapons. However, weapons are not upgraded to have a greater defense base than their regular base. It is possible to increase the value of specific sets and unique items by upgrading them, however they're not always superior to a high-level Runeword.
If you're upgrading an item with an added bonus, the item can be rerolled a single time and the guarantee will reset to 0. Rerolling is the same amount of power dice as leveling an item upgrader kit, but the new item will offer additional bonuses. The NPC [Armor] Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will need the appropriate amount Minerals and Erons as well as a power dice of each kind. They can be purchased by using Gold at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collection. The NPCs will also offer special rewards for each stage of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled once and will be made using the same materials as the original item.
Rerolling
A player can reroll any item acquired in the game provided they have enough tokens to be able to do so. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced by a level 1 version in another set. Reroll tokens are available at the store for a small amount of in-game currency. However, they are not refundable. The new upgraded item will have the same bonuses of the original one however its stats will be different as well.
In addition to rerolling objects, players can also alter the identification of any equipment by engaging with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identity from a weapon to armor or vice versa, all the while maintaining its base stats and the attributes it requires. The change is permanent and will affect all characters that have the gear in question.
Players can also boost the level of an item equipped equipment by acquiring upgrade items and conversing with the item upgrades's upgrader NPC. The cost will differ based on the upgrade track, the item type and the number of crests. For weapons, each step up will add an additional 5% to its damage.
Upgrades can increase the capability of an item, however they can also reduce the quality of an item. Therefore, it is important to keep both in check. Some items are not worth upgrading, whereas others need to be upgraded to reach their full potential. A player might want to upgrade their breakpoint armor using an interesting modification (% block chance or FHR) to see what else it can be.
The primary reason why people play rerolls in Genshin Impact, or in any gacha-based game is because they are trying to acquire a certain character or weapon that they aren't able to obtain. These items can be time-consuming and expensive to obtain, and the RNG does not always work in a positive way. The only options left are to spend real cash or grind lots. Rerolling is very popular in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
You can decide to upgrade the weapon or armor when you upgrade an item. This feature isn't available in the current version of the game. I believe it was intended to be a way to increase the value of rare items, but as gear in general drops fairly quickly and can only be upgraded after a certain amount of levels it is likely that you will replace the item before it gets too old. It's also not worth upgrading items using gem sockets since the power of the gem will outweigh any increment in the ilvl.
You will see a small window when you click on the upgrade option for an item. It will display the template for the item upgrades, its Crest, as well as the cost for Valorstone to raise the level of the item. Armor and weapons have different costs, with the former usually being more expensive. The upgrade template outlines the stats that will be added to the upgraded item and it also lists the current base ilvl.
The cost of the Valorstone and Crest is calculated using the current Ilvl of the item as well as the upgrade templates. The ilvl will also be reduced by the upgrade template's lvl reduction percentage. For example weapons with an 8% upgrade item decrease will reduce its count by 8-8 percent.
In addition to the base ilvl boost, the item will also be upgraded in other stats like critical strike damage, damage from PvE and dodge, block and parry rating. These upgrades are also based on the upgrade template.
The amount of defense and damage the item will receive when it is leveled can be seen below the upgrade cost and decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All armor and weapons apart from practice equipment get these stats once they've been leveled up. The value of these stats will be determined by the market, with a perfectly rolled perfect version of a weapon or piece of armor able to command much more trade value than non-upp'd versions. Similar is the case for other pieces of armor like tiaras and circlets.
