Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other items. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item upgrading and the current item upgrader mod level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It's best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
