9 Lessons Your Parents Taught You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its base stats increase in value. This value is the total of all its leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader you choose and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the sheer number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item upgrader kit.
It is also used to enforce gating requirements when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios and raids, and to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell gear players can look at the levels of the item. It's a sign of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done using the level of the item.
On your PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. The item will be displayed with its full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on how the item level is determined. One theory states that the item level is determined by a formula that calculates the value of the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets add to the value of the item overall. This process can result in a calculated value for the item's level, which is usually quite close to the actual Blizzard item level.
However, this is not the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl since the level of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher value.
Item Stats
Item stats can make or break an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrade." The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modification, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.
The upgrades to an item can increase its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats of an item is through affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Affixes can provide the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.
Presently, all affixes are able to be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circles arrows. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold as well as items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats they want to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The range of stats determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an item that is unique or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the option to upgrade equipment without having to reroll affixes, or choose which stats to increase. But as with base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of the properties. It doesn't, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more beneficial in the early game than in later ones, since most players prefer greater weapon scaling and defense over damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item upgrade. They can also be increased with the use of anti-materials, such as a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to give +40 Luck or to boost the existing Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by five percent. These items can be purchased at the store, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be expensive and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade or to stop players from losing their items if it fails.
When you upgrade an item the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the likelihood that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%..
The performance of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. Every item has a success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases this chance by 5percent.
The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This may obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
