9 Lessons Your Parents Taught You About Item Upgrader
World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level and increase other stats.
Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item is upgraded, its stats improve in value. The value is the sum of all its upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to how many perks must be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.
It can also be used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement when waiting to queue for dungeons and scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average level of the item can be found on the character sheet.
Using the item level will allow players to compare the power of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a measure of the damage and quality. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done by using the item's level.
The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full item description, including its value. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are a variety of theories on the method by which the level of an item level upgrade is calculated. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula which calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is typically close to Blizzard's actual item level.
However, this is not the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl since the level of the area the Best item upgrader is dropped into can change the value of its stats, for instance by adding a level to its haste or crit rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant component of what makes or breaks an item upgrader kit for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by the player's level.
Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. A white or grey item for instance, will only be upgraded once however, items with rare tiers may be upgraded several times at higher prices.
Another method to alter the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes could provide the item level upgrade extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving a special name to the item.
All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.
In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which of the available stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However each item will include at least one stat within the same range, unless it's an exclusive item, or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.
This is another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item basis, and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops and the intensity of those properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in early game runs since players tend to prioritize defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned with the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the luck of the item up to 140.
Additionally, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased as much, and the chance that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.
The performance of an upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. Every item has an initial success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by an additional five percent.
The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
