Item Upgrading: It s Not As Difficult As You Think

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will gain 3percent of its previous damage for each time it is upgraded.

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the current level of the item. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with fewer Upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it is likely that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible to level 15.

It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that will boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is Best item upgrader to place Glyphs in key locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a new item of the same type. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set of bonuses. This can be a downside in that the item could increase in price even if you don't require it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, with an initial level and a different set of extra bonuses. This is a good option for certain items, but it's not something that should be repeated often, as it could waste a lot of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). The item can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is very valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of the non-upgraded version.

Requirements

All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The failure rate increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to return to its original condition, which requires the player to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the Best item upgrade will lose any bonuses it gained, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
