Is Technology Making Item Upgrade Better Or Worse
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader mod will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item upgrader mod level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgrade upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item upgrader kit's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current Item Level upgrade level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrading in the proper steps and paths.
Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is especially applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
