Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is among the best ways to improve your equipment without relying on large-ticket drops or trade. This article will show you how to upgrade your gear effectively.

Upgrades in equipment can add a bonus to the item's base stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component's level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components are the items that can make your weapons and armor more effective. You can get them from the destruction of enemies, finding them in item spheres, or buying them from karma dealers. You can also get them from equipment containing the components or through high-tier salvage kits such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components aren't destroyed when you remove them from an item.

The primary function of upgrade components is to enable an item to be upgraded but they also serve other functions. They can be stacked to increase the level of an upgradeable item, or they can be used to increase the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can also be forged to offer additional benefits. A glyph that has been crafted can increase the chance of upgrading its target while an upgrade boosts the attack or defense capabilities of the weapon.

You can attach an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. This will show an upgrade component list that the item upgrader can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench to select an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded after enough upgrade components are collected.

Each component has its own experience multiplier, which determines the amount of experience an item gets when it is upgraded with that component. Organic components, like, have a higher multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is recommended to upgrade organic components first until you reach the next rank in the weapon or equipment then switch to mechanical upgrades.

Each item comes with an upgrade maximum number that is available for. The number of upgrades are determined by the rank that can be upgraded and the type of upgrade available to the upgradeable item. For instance, the most expensive possible weapon upgrade is a tier 10 weapon. The most common weapon upgrade item is a tier 6 gun and a armor upgrade of tier 5.

Sets

A set is a collection of items which share bonuses. Each item can be upgraded at the least once. The upgrade will increase the bonuses that are guaranteed. When you first upgrade an item, its initial stat will be +1. In subsequent upgrades the stats of the primary one will be boosted a bit further (for example, +1 to 12+/13+/14+) Every time you upgrade the item with an additional stats is increased randomly.

Upgrades can also boost the base damage of a weapon. This may be important for certain builds. However, weapons can't be upgraded to have a higher defense level than their normal base. It's possible to increase the value of certain sets and unique items by upgrading them, but they're not always superior to a high-level Runeword.

If the item you're upgrading has a guarantee bonus it is able to be rerolled once and the guarantee will be reset to 0. Rerolling costs the same amount of power dice as leveling an item upgrades, however the new item will have additional bonuses. Upgrades can be completed at the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item you will require the proper amount of Minerals and Erons, as well as a power dice of each kind. These are available at the crafting table or the Ultra Collector, and can be purchased using Gold. NPCs will also provide special rewards for each level of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a single time using the same materials as original item.

Rerolling

If players have enough tokens for rerolling, they can reroll any item that they have acquired during the game. When an item is rerolled it will be replaced by a level 1 version in another set. Reroll tokens can be bought from the store for a small amount of in-game currency, but they aren't refundable. The new item will come with the same bonus features as the original, but the statistics will also be different.

In addition to rerolling items players can also change the identification of any item by interfacing with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identification from a weapon to an armor, or reverse the process. Its base requirements and stats will remain the same. The change will be permanent and will affect all characters who have the equipment.

The player can also upgrade their level of an item for any equipped equipment. This can be done by engaging with an upgrader NPC and getting upgrade items. The cost will vary depending on the upgrade track, item type, and the number of crests. For weapons, each step up will add 5% to its damage.

Upgrades can boost the capability of an item upgrader, however they also decrease its quality. Therefore, it is important to strike a balance between the two. Some items may not be worth upgrading however, others will need to be upgraded in order to reach their potential. A player may want to upgrade the breakpoint armor by adding an interesting modification ( percent block chance or FHR) to discover what it could be.

The main reason people reroll in Genshin Impact, or in any gacha-based game, is that they're trying to acquire a certain weapon or character that they wouldn't otherwise be able to acquire. These items can be expensive and time-consuming, and the RNG gods do not always want to play. The only options are to invest real money or grind lots. For this reason, rerolling is a popular option in Genshin Impact.

Leveling

You can choose whether to upgrade the weapon or armor after upgrading an item. But, this feature does absolutely nothing in the current game. I believe that this feature was intended to add some value to rare and expensive items. However, since the majority of equipment is replaced quickly, and can only be upgraded by one level, you'll typically replace it before it gets too old. It's also not worth it to upgrade items with gem sockets since the value of the gem will far outweigh the increased ilvl that comes with the upgrade.

You will see a small window when you click the upgrade option for an item upgrader kit. It will display the item's template, the crest, and the cost for Valorstone to raise the item level. Armor and weapons have different costs, with the former typically being more costly. The upgrade template lists the statistics that will be added to the upgraded item. It will also list its current ilvl.

The cost of the Valorstone and Crest is calculated using the item's current Ilvl and the upgrade templates. The ilvl will also be decreased by the upgrade templates reduction percentage of lvl. For instance an upgrade of 8% will decrease the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 88%.

In addition to the base ilvl boost the item will also receive upgrades in other stats, such as critical strike damage, PvE damage and block, parry and dodge rating. These enhancements are also based on the upgrade template.

The amount of defense and damage the item will receive when it is leveled can be seen below the upgrade cost and decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All armor and weapons apart from practice equipment get these stats once they've been leveled up. The value of these stats will be dictated by the market, with a perfectly rolled perfect version of a weapon or piece of armor can command significantly higher trade values than non-upp'd versions. The same applies to other pieces of armor, such as circlets and tiaras.
