Upgrades can sometimes increase the power of a piece of equipment and at times even add additional features. The value of these upgrades is determined by the levels of gear, their requirements, and how many random augmentations are made available.

For instance, the top racial shield Razortail is commonly upgraded for its lightning absorb function in PvP or to add additional defenses to missile-based designs in PvM. This makes it more tradeable than the non-upgraded perfect version.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens are a way to reroll a purchased item, such as an armor, weapon, or ring. This allows you to swap the item for another of the same type with a different set of extra bonuses. Survivors may acquire reroll tokens by a variety of means such as the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures. Players can reroll their equipment using three aspects that include physical power, magical power, and health. Physical power upgrades boost the damage caused by weapons and melee attacks while spell power improves rings and mage attacks. Health upgrades give the player an additional level of health.

Three types of rerolls tokens are available such as upgrade rare and legendary. Each upgrade elevates an item to a better quality and requires a higher-quality reroll token order to make it. Upgrades require a common item. Rare upgrades require items that are either unique or legendary. Legendary upgrades require three legendary pieces.

The marker for rerolling, unlike markers or tokens that are placed on action spaces, stays on the spot until the next Success is rerolled. This is a way to ensure that upgrades are not wasted.

Blueprints appear as envelopes at the start of each Preparation Phase, and can be opened by grabbing them with Interact. When they are opened they show a complete description and the icon of the relevant appliance or ingredient. To upgrade gear, players must first locate the appropriate item and then click the "level up" button.
