The 10 Scariest Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade item an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Typically objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as eth titans do not vary significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot by enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the required material or component needed to complete the upgrade.
There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of the item's name. For example adding a Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools when a player swaps one glyph with another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple items.
This will allow the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.
When a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it is able to get affixes to boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available depends on the type of item it is. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes available for it and legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade process requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item level upgrade is at its current level and in what slot it is located in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item upgrader mod with a new set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower chance of success.
To measure the height of a structure, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and level, then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling

It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. You can do this through the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item upgrades.
In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd be able to get the stats that were important most to your build more often than others. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each statistic. This can be good or bad, based on what you're looking to get from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are offered in addition to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the better chances of obtaining an exclusive bonus.
The game also comes with number sets that grant a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on a unit. This is an excellent method to add lots of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can have different sizes, have none at all, or have a single element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
There are many set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others are not. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you already have a lot of armor pieces or weapons.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its characteristics, as well as the required items to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the requirements for upgrading specific items.
Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant increase in their performance. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
