Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals per.

Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of an item upgrader kit will be dropped in the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear, even if they are unsure how much it will be improved following an update.
