Path of Exile Item Upgrades

In most cases, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They boost the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will absorb. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase as it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will raise its weight, requiring it to weigh more than before.
There are several types of armor upgrades available in the game, and each one has distinct effects. Certain upgrades give armor an additional number of health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade an item upgrade (simply click Google) can be given, as illustrated below.
A few upgrades are magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is identified by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees for use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades change daily or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest method to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give a significant increases in stats and are well worth the cost.
The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense value. However, it will also affect its agility and its speed. This is why it is typically not recommended to upgrade armor pieces beyond +9, since the defensive boost gained is usually not worth the additional weight and power cost of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent characteristics. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets was a bit different. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade items your weapon and equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.
You can still do this, but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're better off going to the stores and buying gear that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These will be able to give you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.

Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase a stat or provide secondary effects on weapons and armor. They can be created through a process called jewelry crafting, where you combine a gem with a number of specific chemicals at a table. The higher the level of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or through finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boost when slotted into gear, weapons and jewelry.
All kinds of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a certain level to be able to get the privilege of having them. Jewels can be substituted with another one without damaging the original. However, you can only replace one jewel in an item upgrader of equipment once.
It is common to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. Apart from improving performance, the diamonds create an outer layer that is more durable than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades additionally, players can get glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs give a slight boost and can be freely traded, but they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits or aegis can't be exchanged and can only be recovered by using an Upgrade extractor, or salvaging with a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets are pieces of equipment that offer many small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. You can find them in the starting area as loot or personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through doing road interaction. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets that a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which grants a small but useful bonus to movement speed and evasion. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be used in any type of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and only works with certain types of trinkets.
These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows the hero to be more effective while inactive, and can also help make up for a lack of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.
As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace in the near future. Then, you should consider any items with desirable stats that aren't as significant as the iLevel for the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's often more beneficial to upgrade item one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the start of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand will pick either a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices can affect a hero's ability to control the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets in the form of rewards and trophies throughout the game. They can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, finishing the main quest for a chapter or defeating a boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
