WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the item upgrader kit being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with a The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the Item Level Upgrade slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrading upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item upgrade level, will cost less. This applies even if those items are from an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item upgrader kit is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade items their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
