Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade items that can be used on weapons and armor items. They improve the effectiveness of the item upgrader mod they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from other items.

The amount of damage an armored item or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will boost its ability to absorb damage. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be more heavy.

There are several types of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain number of additional health points, while others make it lighter and stronger. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade the item upgrader mod can receive, as shown below.

Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, which is shown by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Certain upgrades also require fees to use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. It can be found by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive but is readily available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are worth the investment.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece up to the max upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The added defense usually isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).

Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade to apply. They can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.

To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade, the more advanced the level. The cost of upgrading will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. In the past you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher quality. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would reset.

This is still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear that has low levels of upgrade and high base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the most prestigious perks and blessings.

To increase their level quicker, players usually be more inclined to upgrade item their weapons. In addition to these, players should consider upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to increase their power as well. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used in conjunction with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the level of the jewel the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can boost the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or other gear.

The Jeweler is able to create the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones, which you must attain certain levels to gain. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped with a identical jewel without destroying it. You are able to replace the jewel once in an item upgrade (head to the peatix.com site) of equipment.

Using more jewels in a move will make it more smooth and is usually done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. The jewels also improve performance and create a surface harder than steel so that repeated friction from pivots does not cause damage to the movement.

In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also get glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost in power and can be swapped, but they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be taken out from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis, aren't swappable and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that bestow many small but useful advantages to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and through doing road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased on the Trading Post.

The first trinket a player is able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but valuable boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player obtains armor and weapons. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't in combat. This lets a hero become more efficient even when not in combat. It also helps compensate for the absence of excellent slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by a hero's top stats.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.

At the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and mid players typically choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.

Apart from the things mentioned above, players can find other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For example, completing the main quest of a chapter or defeating the boss. You can view them by selecting the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
