Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with the help of button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
