WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item level upgrade has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool with the help of button, which displays an image of the item when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was modified a bit, and some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even if they belong to another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade items their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
