14 Common Misconceptions About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrader kit by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item level upgrade, however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgrades upgraders for various currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require various methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was modified a bit, and numerous new features added. After a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items are from a different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an integral element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrader mod in the proper steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
