Upgrades can increase the stats of a piece of equipment and sometimes even its extras. The value of these upgrades is determined by the tiers of gear, their requirements and how many random augmentations are made available.

Blueprints appear as envelopes at the start of each Preparation Phase and can be opened by grabbing them using Interact. To upgrade equipment players must first locate the item, then click the "level up button". The menu will appear that shows the item's current status and what it will be when being leveled up and the required amount of Growth Stones to accomplish this. Most often, rare (blue) weapons require more than one green Growth Stone to reach their next level, whereas uncommon armor requires a single green or blue Growth Stone.

Leveling

Once an upgrade component has been added to an object it cannot be removed or replaced. However the glyphs can be swapped freely.

Upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity. Some upgrade components also have additional modifiers that can improve the stats of the item.

Some items are better off being upgraded less for their increased stats and more because it lets players get the most value from a perfect roll on the item. For instance, a perfectly rolled 200/6 504 armor set piece is highly sought-after in the melee PvP community and could be worth 20-50 times the value of the unupp'd version.

When you choose an upgrade component to slot into an item, the game will display a pop-up window that shows the required requirements. The game will show the required requirements when you select an upgrade component to slot into an Best item upgrade.

Once you've satisfied the requirements for upgrading The game will then place the item in your inventory and the progress bar will update to show how close to completing it. You can also track the status of an item upgrade by visiting any NPC that upgrades items.
