7 Simple Tips To Totally Refreshing Your Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a common and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade gear because of their requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the performance of the item upgrader they are attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components within them by using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will increase its ability to absorb damage. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.
There are a few different types of armor upgrades available in the game, and they all have different effects. Some upgrades give armor an additional amount of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade the item can receive, as shown below.
A few of the upgrades are also magical or a combination of magic and technology, which is indicated by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees to use. These are indicated as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are continuously updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the environment and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are well worth the cost.
A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will greatly increase its defense capabilities however, the user must be aware that increasing its weight will dramatically reduce its speed and agility. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade the majority of armor pieces beyond +9, since the defensive boost gained is generally not worth the extra weight and power costs of the improvements required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of a weapon. For instance, an upgrade may increase the damage dealt by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Certain firearms have upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These are obtained through either completing Side Quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your equipment and weapon sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would be reset.
It's still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off going to the stores and buying equipment that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a better chance of giving you the most prestigious tier of blessings and perks.
Most players will want to prioritize upgrades to the weapons they most often use to allow them to progress faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when paired with experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects on weapons and armor. They can be created using a process called jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem with a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the quality of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The Jeweler can boost the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem it will give different stat boosts when it is inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.
The Jeweler is able to create all kinds of gems, except for the rare and legendary ones that you must be at an appropriate level to obtain. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels are able to be swapped with another identical jewel without destroying the original one. However you can only swap out the jewels in an item level upgrade of equipment only once.
It is common to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't cause harm as easily.
In addition to the above upgrades additionally, players can acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped out at any time but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis, aren't swappable and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with a variety of small, but valuable, benefits. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased from the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar manner to the way a player obtains weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be used in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and only works with certain types of trinkets.
These trinkets also provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero is not fighting. This allows a hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It also helps compensate for the absence of good slots in the team or talent tree which would normally be filled by the hero's Best item upgrade stats.
As a rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace soon. Next, any items with desirable statistics that are less significant than the iLevel of the item upgrader kit that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you want to upgrade multiple statistics on an item upgrader mod. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat rather than two suboptimal ones.
At the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and middle players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices can impact the ability of a hero to control the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets that form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or beating an opponent. You can view them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
