WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade item.

The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item level upgrade, however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that are used to upgrade weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which will display an item upgrades's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrading is based on the item Level upgrade slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will cost less, even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an Best item upgrader that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
