WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item Level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade item can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the item's next level of upgrade, in the event that there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item upgrader mod level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used on gear of a specific rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
