An Easy-To-Follow Guide To Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases item upgrader kit level by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require various methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less, even if they are part of a different gear set.
The discount is available to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item level Upgrade that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are used for specific item upgrades level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade items for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests only have one purpose and it's crucial to use them wisely. It's Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
