WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with each upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item level Upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item level upgrade that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks, to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using the help of button, which displays an item's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.

The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader kit upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
