10 Myths Your Boss Has About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Level upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrading will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrader kit owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with an button, which will show an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in many places including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and an issue.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific item upgrader kit level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even if they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.
Crests
Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
