Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item upgrader kit by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item Level upgrade that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading.
