Item Upgrading: What Nobody Is Talking About

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will gain 3% of its previous damage every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment with which it is used (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level using standard methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other equipment.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be expensive, and it is possible that the item will be obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also give an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs increase the effectiveness of all nodes in the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.

You'll often see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the Best item upgrade method to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a stat by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs and there are some rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your gear. Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by introducing upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a different item level upgrade of the same type. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item upgrade comes with its own set bonus. This could be a problem in that it could cause the item to become more expensive if you don't require it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have a level 1 base and a different set of bonus bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be used frequently as it can be a waste of resources.

Some upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. Premium items might have different upgrade requirements from normal equipment. For instance, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons.
